Measurement of the moon's distance with photographs of the partially eclpsed moon
U. Backhaus, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany

This program makes it possible to measure the relative sizes of the moon and the radius of the earth's umbra.
Thereto, circles can be adjusted to the moon and the umbra. The program then calculates the ratio of their radii
and derives (using the known angular radius of the moon) the moon's distance from the earth.
The picture file must be in the uncompressed Windows bitmap format (.bmp) or in the jpg-format (.jpg or .jpeg).
Operation: - Cursor keys: shift of the circle,
           - Page keys: change of the radius of the circle,
           - "Return": confirmation of the result,
           - "F1": additional operation hints.
If more than one picture is available they may be evaluated without leaving the program. The measured pixel
positions, the radii, their ratio and the resulting distance of the moon are saved in the same result file.
